Flights from Montreal (YUL) to Mahé, Seychelles
Here is what to know before booking a flight to Mahé from Montreal.
From Montreal, fares to Mahé usually run between $1800 and $2900. The best fare spotted recently is $1664 (about 18% below the typical price).
Mahé is the main island of the Seychelles, a granite crown of forested peaks rimmed by some of the most beautiful beaches on earth. The capital, Victoria, is small and colourful, and within minutes you can trade its market for a quiet cove under towering boulders. Hike a jungle trail down to the sand and swim in glassy, warm water!
When to go
The Seychelles are warm year round, shaped by two trade winds. The calmer, drier northwest wind from December to March brings smooth seas, while the cooler, breezier southeast wind from May to September is better for hiking and sailing. April and October are transitional and often beautifully still.
Getting there from Montreal
There is no nonstop from eastern Canada, so plan an overnight Atlantic crossing and at least one, usually two, connections. Reliable routings go through a Gulf hub like Doha, Dubai, or Abu Dhabi, or a European hub such as Paris or Istanbul, then on to Mahé. Total travel time is long, often around a full day, so allow time to rest on arrival.
What to see and do
- Beau Vallon beach
- Morne Seychellois National Park
- Victoria market and the town centre
- The Anse Major coastal trail
Good to know before you go
The currency is the Seychellois rupee, and cards are accepted in most hotels and restaurants. There are no major ride-hailing apps, but the SPTC public buses are cheap and cover much of Mahé, and taxis fill the gaps; you do not need to rent a car to get around. English, French, and Seychellois Creole are all spoken, so French speakers manage easily; it is a safe, calm destination, but still lock valuables away and do not leave belongings unattended on the beach.
